Investec Vacancies Description
Investec seeks an experienced Data Engineer for the Private Bank Tech Data Team in Sandton. The ideal candidate will be a Microsoft stack expert with experience in Investment Banking or Financial Services (general product and process knowledge, market, reference and Regulatory data).
- Designing and developing end-to-end BI solutions that will extract and transform data from multiple systems and load it into multiple reporting datawarehouses
- Work with analysts and end users to translate requirements into technical specifications, and provide estimations to management
- Supporting the existing BI Platform and reverse engineering processes
- Mentoring junior members and driving industry best practices.
- Help with the migration to a cloud solution (specifically Microsoft Azure).
Experience, skill and capability
- Strong SQL programming skills (stored functions, stored procedures) and excellent T-SQL data analysis and exploration skills.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2/2012/2014/2016, performance tuning, backup and recovery, data encryption, capacity planning, understanding of database engine internals and all database objects. Experience loading data from various sources, including XML files, CSV files, excel spreadsheets, web services, and databases.
- Experience with SSIS, custom plugins, script tasks, and other tools.
- Experience in designing solutions using Kimball methodology with a good understanding of data modeling concepts
Support for deployed BI Solutions - Knowledge of SSAS and MDX. Performance tuning, best practice, 2008 onwards.
- Experience in building reports with SSRS and PowerPivot. Integration with SharePoint. Building corporate reporting portals. KPIs. Dashboards. Self-service BI.
Data Engineer Competencies
- Deliver at all stages of data engineering
- Data ingestion and transformation, data modeling and data warehousing and building self-service products.
- Expertise in Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Databricks.
- A good understanding of Data Lakes in general, and Azure Data Lake Gen2.
- Experience with robust and efficient ETL processes
- Build and maintain Analysis Services cubes and databases (multidimensional and tabular).
