This role is a 2.9.2 position by the MHSA Act of 1996. Maintain, install, and commission the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility

Diesel Mechanic UG Description

• Attend safety meetings and take part in risk assessments
• Assign tasks to subordinates, deal with breakdowns and emergencies when necessary
• Assure that spare parts, equipment, and materials are readily available.
• Assure that subordinates receive adequate and appropriate on-the-job training
• Replace components only if necessary.
• Record the results of all legal exams in the correct format
• Complete the job cards with a description of work done and spares used.
• Assisting with breakdowns and emergencies

Qualifications for Diesel Mechanic UG

• Grade 10 or N2 Technical Trade Specific
• Grade 12 or Technical Trade Specific No. 3 (added Advantage)
• Certified Competent as a Diesel Mechanic
• It is advantageous to have additional trade certificates.
• Experience in underground mining for at least two years
• Experience with SANDVIK LP and Fermel mediator equipment
