Job Description

Starke Ayres, the leading African specialist and global provider of premium flower, vegetable and lawn seed types – for both commercial and home gardening – is now hiring. A Driver LMV position with Picker-Packer duties is now available in Gqeberha. This role involves driving cars or light motor vehicles, (less than 3000 kg GROSS VESSEL WEIGHT), to and from different locations in order to deliver people/goods/documents/people. Vehicle(s) cleaning and maintenance is the responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

Deliveries

• Assist and supervise the loading of delivery vehicles.
• Sign for loading and verify that the goods are loaded in accordance with the delivery notes.
• When goods are delivered to the customer, check the Delivery Note and make sure that the customer signs a copy of it as proof of delivery. (POD’s). All goods that are short must be listed by the customer and signed.
• In the case of COD orders, collect payment from the client.
• Assures that the goods are delivered in a neat and clean condition. This includes packaging, appearance and general cleanliness.
• On his return to Warehouse, give all P.O.D.’s/COD money to the Depot/Stores/Delivery Supervisor.
• Report any shortages of PODs/COD money immediately to the Depot/Stores/Department Supervisor

Returns

• As and when necessary, collect returns listed on Goods Return Vouchers (GRVs).
• On his return to Warehouse, hand in all goods and GRVs to the Depot/Stores/Despatch Supervisor.

General

• Carry out daily/weekly vehicle checks according to the Company’s Vehicle Inspection Checklist and complete checklist, highlighting problem areas before leaving Warehouse.
• Keep the vehicle clean and roadworthy at all times. Reports any defects or suspected defects timeously to the Depot/Stores/Despatch Supervisor.
• Maintain a schedule for vehicle deliveries, including the times of arrival and departure. Ensure that this schedule has been signed by the customer.
• Be sure to be clean and well-groomed at all times. Also, always be courteous and helpful in dealing with clients.
• Other tasks may be assigned by the Depot supervisor.
• At all times act responsibly and professionally, cultivating goodwill and a favorable image of the Company.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate, Grade 12,
• Code 8 of the Driver’s License (Code 10 is also beneficial)
• Experience as a previous driver
