Description

Amazon’s Risk and Compliance Solutions Team is seeking an experienced compliance professional for our South Africa Compliance Office.
The Compliance Officer, a senior position within the MEA Compliance Team, is responsible for running and improving our compliance programs on second line in South Africa.

Key job responsibilities

The compliance officer will:

• In collaboration with our legal team, provide timely and effective advice to the business on complex compliance issues.
• Accurately interpret and advise on the applicable ZA regulations with an emphasis on AML/CTF.
• Work with our legal, risk, and business leaders to develop and maintain compliance policies and controls.
• Inform Senior Management of conduct and compliance risk.
• Implement and improve the Compliance Monitoring Plan for the ZA regulated entities.
• Respond promptly to information requests from auditors and regulatory agencies.
• Assist in the analysis and digesting of regulatory changes and seek out opportunities to influence regulatory agendas on behalf of customers.

Basic Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree or Equivalent- 6+ Years of Compliance, Audit or Risk Management Experience
• Expertise in South African AML/CFT Regulations (including the supervision and operation of Suspicious Activity Monitoring Programs) as well Payments Regulation.
• Communication skills – Verbal and written.
• Experience as a senior compliance officer in a large bank or electronic money/payment institution.
