About the Senior Lecturer Vacancies
The position is permanent with a 5-year term as Head of Department. you will manage the Senior Phase and Further Education & Training (SP & FET) Department. This means managing a team of academics, driving research, and supporting students. After the term ends, you’ll stay on as Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer.
Senior Lecturer Qualification
For the Senior Lecturer level, you’ll need:
- A relevant Doctoral degree in Education focusing on SP & FET
- A four-year undergraduate degree in Education or a B-tech teaching qualification
- At least 4 years of higher education teaching experience
- Experience in curriculum development and research supervision
- Knowledge of higher education frameworks and processes
For the Head of Department, you’ll need:
- A relevant Doctoral degree in Education
- At least 5 years of experience, with 3 years at Senior Lecturer or above
- Experience in teaching, curriculum development, and managing academic staff
What You’ll Do
You’ll lead your department in key areas like:
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Research and supervision
- Managing budgets, staff, and resources
- Working closely with the Dean and Faculty Executive
- Building partnerships with schools and other education stakeholders
Important Requirements
The job is based at the Wellington Campus, where teaching is in Afrikaans. You must be able to teach in Afrikaans.
