Job Purpose

Credit Managers’ objective is to evaluate and assess the loan application from Commercial clients to minimize impairments and maximize profit.

This includes a consistent application of Nedbank’s credit policy through a risk based affordability assessment, periodic reviews of credit for existing customers and assessing creditworthiness in potential customers within agreed risk parameters, as set forth in the Nedbank Credit Strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Validate the client’s information and documents by analysing and reviewing the credit applications. Assess the contents of the documents and viability of the funding requested.
  • Client-specific solutions tailored to the client’s business model
  • Service Level Agreements, delivering deliverables on time and adhering to credit processes including the mandatory official signature on all applications are ways of meeting client expectations.
  • Adapt to legislative changes by providing input on redesigning credit systems, processes, policies and procedures, where applicable. This can be done by making recommendations and submissions to relevant parties.
  • Support the daily activities of a larger team by monitoring outputs, performance and building the intellectual capital.
  • Reviewing Nedbank’s and Business Unit Plans to ensure that delivered systems, services, processes and solutions are in alignment with the business strategy and objectives.
  • Informal and formal engagements are a great way to share knowledge and trends in the industry with your team and other stakeholders.
  • By identifying development areas, aligning to a personal plan and receiving feedback from the leadership team, and ensuring that all activities within a personal plan are completed in a specified timeframe.
  • Find ways to add value to Nedbank by identifying, recommending and improving business processes.

Minimum Experience Level

  • A NQF level 7 or higher in a financial or banking related field is essential
  • CIMA or a degree in credit management will be beneficial.
  • Own a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Credit Assessment, Credit Evaluation and Decision Making within the Banking environment
  • Experience in Business Banking of at least 3 years, evaluating financial statements and credit reports for current and potential clients to determine their debt repayment ability.
  • Understanding the legalities of lending and collateral
  • Experience in Team Management/Supervision would be an advantage.
  • A track record of managing large books.
  • Prepare yourself for travel
